AutoAlert – A better way to detect future falls

Our data show that one out of three seniors fall each year. And 30% of falls that require emergency transport are not reported. The longer seniors lie waiting for help, the more intensive care they require, amounting to $34 billion a year. AutoAlert alleviates that problem with immediate fall detection.

*Based on the number of detected falls that have been reported to Philips Lifeline by U.S AutoAlert subscribers for the period of January 2012 through July 2012. Undetectable falls can include a gradual slide from a seated position – such as from a wheelchair – which may not register as a fall.

AutoAlert does not detect 100% of falls. If able, seniors should always push the button if they need help. Button signal range may vary due to differing environmental factors. Caution: To reduce any risk of strangulation, Philips Lifeline neck cords are designed to break apart under certain conditions. However, any cord worn around the neck can pose a strangulation risk, including the possibility of death and serious injuries. This may be of more concern to wearers in wheelchairs, using walkers, using beds with guard rails, or who might encounter other protruding objects upon which the cord can become tangled.
