Preparing for Hurricane Michael
We're here for you when you need us
As Hurricane Michael approaches, our top priority is the safety of our customers and their loved ones.
The unpredictability of storms like Michael means, at any point, you or your loved one may not have the ability to remain safely at home. For that reason, here are some tips and suggestions as you prepare to move to a more secure location.
Evacuating from your home
If you need to evacuate, we recommend the following:
Take BOTH your Lifeline personal alert button and your Lifeline in-home Communicator with you.
If you set up your Lifeline system in a temporary location, call our Customer Service team at 1-800-635-6156 to let them know where you are located.
If you have the GoSafe mobile personal alert button, your button will still work without the in-home Communicator. Remember to take your charger with you. Please note that the coverage signal may vary from what you are used to in your home. You will need to charge the button more often when it is away from the in-home Communicator.
If you have the GoSafe 2 system, make sure you keep your button on and take your charger with you.
If you are not able to take your Philips Lifeline system with you:
- Test your button upon your return home.
- If your system was damaged in the storm, please contact us immediately upon your return home so that we can get new equipment shipped to you as soon as possible.
Loss of Power
If you lose power, your Philips Lifeline medical alert system will work for a limited time off of a backup battery.
- The battery life and access to the response center will vary depending on which Philips Lifeline system you or your loved one have.
- When your power is restored, please test your system to ensure it is working properly. If you cannot successfully complete a help call, contact our Customer Service team as soon as possible so that we can assist you.
