Learn more about HomeSafe with AutoAlert
HomeSafe with AutoAlert provides the benefits of a classic medical alert system, but enhanced with AutoAlert, our proven advanced fall detection technology. Having AutoAlert means if a fall is detected, and you are unable to press the button on the pendant, a help call will still be sent to our Response Center1.
This service will continue to be available to you through Humana At Home at no additional cost.
AutoAlert Fall detection
AutoAlert is designed to detect falls accurately and connect older adults to help quickly, even if you can't push the button.1
It is safe to wear your pendant in the bath or in the shower, where falls are most common.
24/7 Response Center
Our fully-staffed, multi-lingual Response Center is always ready to take your call. 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year, our professionally trained staff is ready to help in any situation.
No battery recharging required
The battery is long-lasting, and we'll automatically replace it when needed.
Personalized response plan
You choose who our Response Center dispatches to provide the help you need, whether it's a family member, friend who lives close by, or emergency services. *
*For AutoAlert calls: in the case of a fall detected signal with no verbal response from the subscriber on multiple attempts, Philips Lifeline may contact EMS for a response.

To connect your Communicator through your home phone line, all you need is a power outlet and a phone jack. If you want to keep a phone connected too, it's easy to do but not required.
Frequently asked questions
How does AutoAlert fall detection work?
If you fall and are unable to press your button, the built in AutoAlert technology will automatically call the Philips Lifeline Response Center for you. When possible, even after a fall, you should always press your button.
AutoAlert only detects falls from standing, and does not detect falls from chairs or couches.
Why am I being asked what type of telephone service I have – if I have a landline or a cell phone?
Philips Lifeline’s HomeSafe with AutoAlert can connect either by landline phone connection or by cellular connection.
If you have a landline in your home then you will be sent the landline version.
If you no longer have a landline phone in your home you will be sent the wireless system.
Is there a battery backup for the in-home communicator if I lose power?
Yes. Up to 30 hours of battery backup gives you access to help even during power outages as long as your phone line is working.
How long does the battery last in the in-home communicator?
The in-home communicator battery life expectancy is 5 years. When the battery is low we will receive a battery low signal and send a replacement.
How long does the battery last in the button?
The button battery life expectancy is 14-18 months. When the battery is low we will receive a battery low signal and send a replacement.
